The research group Biophotonics & Quantum Optoelectronics  was established in September 2004. It is headed by Prof. Wolfgang Langbein (School of Physics and Astronomy) and Dr. Paola Borri (School of Biosciences). Related groups in Cardiff University are the Optoelectronics and Nanophysics Group in the School of Physics and Astronomy and the Molecular Biosciences in the School of Biosciences.
The research areas cover ultrafast, nonlinear, coherent optical spectroscopy on different material systems from semiconductor nanostructures to biomolecules.
